Point of Convergence was installed at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging and hung in their vast atrium for over two years. What is unique about the Buck is its focus, from every disciplinary perspective, on the subject of aging: It is a Point of Convergence, a place where disparate research paths come together into a unified whole.
While the I. M. Pei building provides an immense, inspirational setting, with soaring skylights, moving shadows, and obtuse angles in every room, it pales in comparison to the importance of the research being done in its laboratories. In fact, the building could fall, and the trees could move back in, but the work of the scientists would live on.
