Carole Beadle came to the mill twice as an artist in residence. The second time she was there, we were invited to show at a special group show in a huge vaulted barn. We decided to hatch a baker’s dozen of 4-foot eggs and hang them under the brick arches. Our first thought was to cover the surface of the plexiglass eggs with chicken feathers. We went to an abattoir in Albi to get the feathers, but we were so disturbed by the experience, we took just enough to cover one egg, the one we called Art Brut.
