Gallery St. Catherine, Rodez, 2005
The Gallery St. Catherine was a Dominican monastery, a military barracks, a library, and an art center. All have left widows. I took casts of the arms of artists friends in the South of France. They picked a card, which put them either in a religious light, golden, or a military one, red. They wrote their impressions on their casts. A bishop’s mitre and a soldier’s helmet guarded their separate quarters while their widow stood behind her veils.
